Episode 2

Darcia's first appearance has him breaking into Cher's lab and stealing Cheza. Wearing his mask, he simply opens the doors and walks right in after disabling the power supply. Cher is very confused by his arrival, and attempts to stall as he approaches; but Darcia takes off his mask, revealing his left eye. That eye flashes, and Cher crumples to the ground, unconscious. He redirects his attention to Cheza (still in her bubble) and tells her that "it's been a while." Cheza opens her eyes as he talks to her - she hasn't done this before - and Darcia tells her that she has nothing to worry about. With a wave of his hand he creates a glowing computer panel and drains the water from Cheza's bubble. The scene then shifts to Kiba and Hige; they are running after the scent of the girl of the flower. They stop and look up; walking along a catwalk above them is Darcia, carrying a limp Cheza. Darcia turns to face them - and the episode ends.

Episode 3

Thankfully, this episode picks up where the last one left off; Darcia looks at Kiba and Hige, and says, "Wolves, huh?" Kiba and Hige are rightfully shocked - Darcia is human and he can see them with no difficulty. Darcia "thanks" them for helping to wake Cheza up, and activates his transportation device. Cheza screams as white light floods everything. Darcia tells the wolves, "We'll meet in Paradise...if you can make it," giving them a further shock; Darcia also knows about Paradise. Kiba takes off at a run for Darcia, but doesn't get there in time; Darcia and Cheza vanish with the white light.

Episode 7

This episode gives us a clue into Darcia's past; it begins with a flashback. Darcia is clearly much younger, although his left eye is still obscured by the covering. Darcia had been very much in love with a woman named Harmona; they are sitting in a flower-covered field that looks almost as if it could be Paradise. Echoing this, Darcia promises Harmona that he will bring her to Paradise someday; Harmona refuses, telling Darcia that any place where they are together is Paradise enough for her. Everything seems perfect for the two of them. But that doesn't last; the peaceful landscape turns stormy and bleak as Darcia is informed that Harmona is ill with something called "Paradise disease." Her heart has been stolen by Paradise, leaving her body behind. Her soul is slowly rotting away. Darcia goes to Cheza and puts his hand against her bubble, and asks her to guide him. This is our first clue that Cheza "belonged" to Darcia to begin with.

We return to the present. Darcia is piloting a small ship, with Cheza sitting in the back. He tells Cheza that he is bringing her back to the place where she was born. Alarms sound in the ship; Lord Oakum's forces have finally caught up with Darcia. Inside that much larger ship is Cher and the rest of the soldiers; they are trying to steal Cheza back from Darcia again. They fire a warning shot; Darcia dodges most of the volleys (very quickly, too) and the shields on the small craft absorb the rest. Darcia is distracted from his piloting, however, when Cheza stands up and starts to leave the ship. (It's still far above the ground and moving very fast.) He stands there silently for a second, before realizing that she really intends to jump out. He yells at her to stop, and starts to run forward, but it's too late; she has already jumped out of the ship and spirals down to the ground below. Darcia simply stands in the open door to the ship, and watches her fall. Soon enough, though, he smiles and traces over his left eye with his hand.

Episode 9

Darcia's appearance in this episode is a short one. First, Cher notices a painting in a shop of "Darcia;" however, we aren't sure if this is the current Darcia or his grandfather. It's probably his grandfather, though, considering that his left eye is "normal." Cher then walks to the gravesite for all of Darcia's family. As she walks among the tombs, she looks up, startled; Darcia is standing there and holding a bouquet of flowers. He reaches up and runs his hand over his left eye again.

Episode 10

Cher wakes up and finds herself in Darcia's castle. Darcia tells her that he wanted to meet her, and apologizes for his "impolite behavior." Cher demands the location of Cheza; Darcia responds by saying that Cheza doesn't seem to like either of them. Cher wants to know Cheza's real purpose; Darcia tells her that Lord Oakum didn't know anything, and stole Cheza from his family only to display political power. Darcia shows her some of the information he has on Cheza; it is a great deal more that Cher and Lord Oakum's people have access to. Darcia tells Cher that "the life of a flower is a short one" and if Cheza basks in the light of a full moon just a few more times, her life will end.

Episode 11

Darcia leaves Cher to her own devices, and she takes it upon herself to wander around Darcia's castle. She discovers some equipment that can be used to communicate directly with Cheza's heart - just like in the Book of the Moon. Darcia's equipment is apparently much more advanced than the machinery Cher has access to. Cher's wonder is cut short, however, when Darcia walks into the room; amused, he tells her that he "gave her too much freedom." He tells her that the time for games is over, and that he has to go pick up Cheza. Darcia knows where she is because he can feel her through his left eye. He immobilizes Cher and tells her that his ancestors disappeared into Paradise, and his family is cursed because of that; like Harmona, they are all susceptible to having their souls "stolen" by Paradise. Darcia and Harmona's curse can only be lifted by Paradise.

Darcia puts Cher to sleep with a flash of his left eye and leaves.

Meanwhile, the wolves and Cheza seem ready to reach Paradise. A path of Lunar Flowers opens and they start on it - except the flowers disappear as the whine of Darcia's airship whistles through the air. Darcia lands his ship and steps out. He asks the wolves if they had a "nice dream of reaching Paradise," and tells them that "now is not the time for that." He looks to Cheza and asks her to come back. Kiba, enraged, charges Darcia; however, he hits a forcefield and bounces off. Darcia then targets lasers at the wolves, quickly disabling all of them except Kiba. Although the wolves are all injured into unconsciousness, Darcia doesn't hit any of them directly. Cheza screams because wolf blood has been spilled. Darcia aims again at Kiba, the only wolf still on his feet. Cheza can't stand it anymore; as Kiba falls, she tells Darcia to stop. She will return with him to save the lives of the wolves. The airship lifts off, leaving the wolves behind.

Episode 12

Darcia, in his airship, sees a large explosion in the distance. He narrows his eyes and says, "how foolish!" He reaches his western castle, which is largely in ruins except for the main building. Carrying Cheza, he walks down the hallway - only to stop when he sees his servant pinned to the far door with spikes through her hands. Shocked, he lets Cheza fall from his arms before he runs to her and pulls her down from the wall. She asks his forgiveness; confused, he just looks at her. Then, with dawning awareness, he looks up, at the door to the room beyond. He slams the doors open and goes to the bed where Harmona lies.

"Lord Jagara's troops came even here." The servant bows her head. "Forgive me. I was unable to protect her."

Darcia reaches out and fingers a lock of Harmona's hair. His eyes widen a little bit. Then he turns to the side and glares; Cheza has walked up to Harmona, singing softly. Cheza reaches out and touches her, still singing. Darcia asks her to stop, gently; then again, more insistantly. When Cheza doesn't stop, he yells at her and backhands her away from Harmona. He reaches out a hand and closes Harmona's eyes. She is dead.

He hears a whisper of her voice: "I wanted to see you again."

"Even if there were no more wolves, I have this eye." Darcia reaches down and picks up Harmona's limp body. "This wolf's eye." He twirls her around. "We can always be together."

An echo of Harmona's voice, again: "Be together, for certain."

"That's right, soon." He stops and puts her back down.

"Darcia, I love you."

Darcia stands looking down at her, and then starts to shake. He screams, loudly, and then starts to bash his head against a wall. He drops to his knees, crying.

Episode 14

Darcia doesn't seem to have moved at all; he is leaning back against Harmona's bed, his hair hanging down over his face. He looks up, though, when he senses that Kiba has entered his castle. His mask is back on, and he clutches his left eye. Now that Harmona has died, Paradise has lost all meaning for Darcia...however, his wolf eye burns.

Kiba pushes the doors open, but he sees only Cheza. She starts to run for him, but Darcia runs (very fast) and grabs Cheza before she can reach Kiba. Darcia holds her up with one hand, and tears his mask off with the other. He sees Kiba and glares, tossing Cheza to one side. Cheza screams, and Kiba charges. Darcia pulls his sword and meets the charge; both combatants stagger past one another. When they turn, each has a fine slice down their face. Darcia asks why the wolves want Cheza so much; Kiba says that she shows them the way to Paradise. This makes Darcia mad, and Kiba and him begin fighting again. Darcia tells Kiba that the wolves took everything from him; in exchange, they left him a curse, agony, and sadness. Darcia's left eye also "became the same as yours." All of this was the result of being cursed by Paradise. Darcia says that he is surrounded by nothing but despair as he brings his sword to Cheza's throat.

Kiba says that there is no hope or despair, only the future. Darcia looks up, not seeing anything but Harmona, as he says, "This future is not ... needed ... any more." He drops his sword and walks away. He picks up Harmona as Jagara's troops attack the castle. He makes his way outside, still holding her. A white light shines and Darcia and Harmona fade away into it.

Episode 25

By the time Darcia appears again, things are looking pretty bad for everyone else. Jagara is set to open her Paradise with Cheza. Kiba, Tsume, and Toboe have been captured by Lady Jagara; Hige seems to be losing his mind. No one is in any position to help the captive wolves -

Except Darcia. He simply walks right up to Jagara's castle, striding calmly down the middle of the street. His mask has changed; now, it wears a clown-like smile, and his left eye is no longer covered. Cher, who had been watching from hiding, stares as Jagara's troops simply fall down. She walks out to Darcia, and he asks her if she wants to come with him "into the center of darkness." She hesitantly follows. They walk through the halls, Darcia completely silent despite Cher's questions.

Jagara starts her "party" to celebrate the opening of Paradise; and Darcia crashes it. He walks in through the doors, and all of the other guests collapse as the power of his eye reaches them. Darcia continues walking through the hall until he stands face-to-face with Jagara herself.

Episode 26

Jagara stands calmly as Darcia approaches her. She says that she had been waiting for him. Darcia removes his mask, and looks at her through two mismatched eyes.

Jagara, too, removes her mask - to reveal Harmona's features.

Darcia comments that he thought he'd never see that face again. "The face of the woman you loved," says Jagara.

Emotionless, Darcia responds that "she is your sister."

Jagara insists that Harmona's spirit had completely disappeared after she was stricken by Paradise sickness, and that Darcia was deluding himself by thinking he could save her. Jagara continues, saying "That's why...I had to do something." (Remember, it was Jagara's troops who killed Harmona in the first place.) Jagara herself loves Darcia, but at the same time she blames him for taking her sister away from her. In short, she blames Darcia for everything. She says that all of his misfortunes have been brought upon himself.

Jagara begins her attempt to open the door to Paradise.

Darcia, his voice strangely blurred (it sounds like Kiba is speaking, too), tells Jagara that her "Paradise" is only a place where you remember the past. It is not a place to change the future. "A manufactured Paradise...there's no future in that."

The scenery changes to Darcia's castle, decorated like it was in his youth when he was happy with Harmona. But standing in place of Harmona is Jagara. She tells Darcia that she researched for a perfect Paradise for the aristocrats, like Darcia's grandfather had done.

"That man didn't think of the people who were left here," Darcia responds. He left his family behind with a curse. "Creating Paradise in a cursed world...is meaningless."

Jagara tells Darcia that he is deceiving himself again. His Paradise is right in front of his eyes...

Darcia says that it's meaningless. Jagara laughs, thinking that it's because of Harmona. She reminds Darcia that his eye, his wolf's eye, is seeking Paradise.

Darcia tells her that that's not it. "This place isn't Paradise." Shocked, Jagara steps back; because in Darcia's place now stands a white wolf. It jumps for her throat -

Gasping, Jagara snaps out of the "Paradise" she had created. She stumbled back, away from Darcia. He says, "It's over. The door to Paradise is closed."

Jagara screams, and buries a dagger to the hilt in Darcia's chest. Darcia pulls it out, breathing hard. Jagara lunges at Darcia with a sword, screaming, "Why don't you love me?!" Darcia parries her strikes with his own sword, but he clearly is weakening. He drops down to one knee -

"That dagger from a little white ago had deadly poison coating it." Jagara smiles as Darcia collapses in a heap on the floor. She raises her sword -

And Hige comes barrelling out of nowhere to attack her. She wounds him, but Kiba is facing her now - he attacks and succeeds in wounding her. She stumbles back -

And runs into Darcia, standing on his feet and looking down at her. She smiles, sure that he is about to save her -

He doesn't. He stabs her through. Her eyes widen and she falls. Darcia looks down at her unemotionally before turning to Kiba. "Just as I thought...you are the chosen wolf."

"Who the hell are you?" Kiba demands of Darcia. "You're not a wolf...nor a noble." Darcia turns further, and holds out his hand. In it rests a crystal ball with colors spiraling in its depths.

"I've been chosen," explains Darcia. "Now I understand. Not only do we want Paradise... Paradise is...calling us."

Darcia turns and walks off down the hall.
